You Can Take the Boy

You Can Take the Boy Out of Baltimore, But You Can’t …
L.A. Photographer, Carlos Betts’ star is rising. This photo, California Girls, shows that sometimes you don’t need to read a bio to know where an artist is originally from.
Stephen Lemons said of Betts' work in a 2001 Salon article, "....Carlos' women are more likely to be the girl-next-door in Baltimore, a blue-collar mix of skinny, flat-chested freaks and full-figured hoochie-mamas in too-tight bustiers....".
It makes me proud to know that Baltimoriana can leak out of the region and leave its own distinctive mark on Americana.
