Isabel is doing her best to make sure Baltimore doesn’t live up to her lame nickname…

The City that Reads will have to wait one day. The Baltimore Book Festival was scheduled to begin Friday evening. Hurricane conditions make for a sucky outdoor festival. Luckily, Isabel is as fickle as she is fierce and will be moving out of town as quickly as she is moving in. The forecast for Saturday and Sunday is clear skies.

This year’s presenting author will be Barry Levinson, who on Saturday will be reading from his debut novel, Sixty-Six. Of course, my all time favorite Levinson film is Diner.

Speaking of Diner, I saw Boogie Wienglass a couple of weeks ago. Mickey Rourke portrayed Boogie in the film. I didn’t recognize him and had to ask one of my coworkers what was the deal with the old man in the flared jeans.

You’ve got to hand it to a sixty five year old man who can who can pull off both flared jeans and the name Boogie.
