As often as possible I try to stay away from political blogging. The reason being I know that there are far more learned Liberals and Conservatives out there that could out argue me simply based on their larger cannon of political knowledge.

But, I have to admit I’m really excited about this Gen. Wesley Clark running for president stuff.

As much as I would like to say that I’m a moderate Democrat, the fact of the matter is that I’m actually a liberal Democrat. That doesn’t mean that I want to hand the government over to the Bush team for a second term by on putting idealistic blinders and ignoring the cardinal rule that northern liberals are absolutely positively unelectable, period. Dean as a front runner is political suicide for the Democratic Party. The American electorate is not going to collectively make an idealistic 180 degree about face and decide that they’ve been looking at things all wrong for the past 40 years. I’m sorry if this is cynical, but it’s true.

Why I’m excited about Gen. Clark:

1) As a retired 4 star General known for his aggressive tactics, he is impervious the always effective conservative smearing of Democrats as unpatriotic softies.
2) He is a southerner, which I cannot stress enough is an absolute must.
3) He is one smart motha’. First in his class at West Point. Rhode scholar. Admittedly, this may hurt him as much as help him.

This is the only man who can possibly slay the Chaney/Rumsfeld/Wolfowitz dragon.
