The always sharp and unbelievably prolific Jen Chung over at Gothamist emailed me yesterday to let me know her friend the comedian Todd Barry will be appearing at the Ottobar on Tuesday, August 19th.

He had asked her if she knew anyone in Baltimore who could get the word out and Jen thought of me. Aw shucks I’m blushing (no sarcasm intended, I’m actually quite touched). Little do Todd and Jen know that the sum total of eebmore’s online audience adds up to roughly three people … not to mention my poorly represented non-online audience.

Nonetheless, I told her that I would do my best to get people to show up.

So, the 3 of you out there that read my weblog, tell your friends, tell strangers on the street, tell your old enemies, and please show up and enjoy the comic weavings of the hilarious Todd Barry.

Now, since the beautiful insouciant chic crowd that Todd Barry is probably hoping for is woefully underrepresented in this town, I was thinking of trying to build up an audience for him that really represented a Baltimore demographic. I’ll bring the transvestite prostitutes from in front of my building. Does anyone out there know any Pigtown urban hillbillies or East Baltimore kick-it-out boys … or even a stereotypical Hampden hun or two that have a taste for stand up comedy?

Also, Jen offered to get me free passes for myself and a guest. And seeing how the evening I spent last night with an attractive and charming young lady whom I’ve been seeing for about a week had uncomfortable silences long enough to write a novella, I’ll be needing a date.
