Ha! It worked. That's one of the most polarized issues between the left and the right. But, with the whole French thing. EVERYONE knows that the french are assholes. They have been a selfish thorn in the arse of international policy from day one. The only reason they helped us durring the American Revolution was to piss off Britain. The ONLY reason Bush offered them an olive branch was because he (or rather, his advisors) knew they would thumb their noses at him, so then he could say "Oh look, the French are being French again." It was in insincere tactical move, and the american people bought it.

p.s. I loooovvvveeeeed when Bush dropped the "F" bomb in the third debate in a context that had absolutely NOTHING to do with France. Just say the word "France" and the populist american rabble starts grumbling "freedom fries! freedom fries!" God, we're such tools.
