Today's material stolen borrowed from Baltimore's very own Sweetney:
Interesting indeed. And, no, I don't think it is at all unfair to point out the irony (or, sadly ... the lack of it).

But what do I know. I'm a member of the immoral minority.
Great post...although it's really depressing if you think about it. Also, the south used to be solidly democratic until the 60's when the Dixiecrats switched parties to express their contempt for the civil rights movement. Change "civil rights" to "gay rights" and attitude in these states stays the same. I'm thankful that there are still a lot of us in the "immoral" minority.
Posted by: chiaroscuro at November 7, 2004 06:00 PMyes, the party systems have finally completly reversed the two parties.
Posted by: eebmore at November 7, 2004 07:33 PMI love maps. I collect them.
Maryland is one of the few former slave states that's still Democrat. Although as we know, there's still a lot of REDNECKS hanging out in places like Reisterstown.
I don't see how the Dems are ever going to be a national party again, at this rate. Although I liked Kerry, I thought Edwards was a populist buffoon. I hope they don't try to run him in 2008.
