The Baltimore blog aggregator whose name we do not speak of
June 03, 2005
special note: the first two of these were built so I could have a good laugh and be a snarky ass. the rest were built out of boredom and exhaustion. Truth be told, it really isn’t my place to be building these, and I wouldn’t use them if I were you; unless baltiblogs feels like endorsing them.
It's their site.
*Update at bottom:
A date and time seems to have been set for the debut of Baltimore’s newest aggregating web ring. The Baltimore blog aggregator whose name we do not speak of is slated to go online Monday, June 6th, at 6 p.m.
And just in case there is any question as to whether or not my nose is thoroughly wedged up it’s butt, I’ve gone to the trouble of creating two huge, not too terribly attractive buttons for the new site:

Of course, I’ll be adding the latter of the two to my template.
The debut is scheduled for 6/6 at 6 p.m.
666!?
Further evidence that the name is cursed by Satan. Sell your soul and sign up now.
*Okay, fine. Here are three appropriately sized buttons. Two of them aren’t even smart-assed. I tried to match the drop shadow, so they may not be clear enough to pass muster.
With “Hon”:

Without “Hon”:

And the smart-ass:

Or, there is always the option of going with the button standard silkscreen font, but that would be sort of rip off blog baltimore, courtesy of MB:

Hell, I’m just tired and killing time because I can’t sleep tonight.
Update #2: No, I had nothing better to do today than make buttons.

My degree in English forces me to point out that your title to this post should be, "The Baltimore blog aggregator whose name we do not speak" or "The Baltimore blog aggregator of whose name we do not speak".
I apologize. I'm a terrible person.
Posted by: AnonymousCoworker at June 3, 2005 01:33 PMyes yes. I too am familiar with the dangling participle. I was quoting The Village, crap ass movie that it was. Double checked the internet before posting the poor grammar. According to the internet, the movie used the wrong grammar.

Of course, the web page could be wrong. God knows I wasn't going to watch the movie again to get make sure.
Posted by: eebmore at June 3, 2005 01:46 PMAnd anonymous... don't sweat it. Being a smartass on a smartass post is a forgivable offense.
Posted by: eebmore at June 3, 2005 01:59 PMDoes your nose wedged so thoroughly up its butt make Blogtimore, Hon an A-lister?
Posted by: dabrettman at June 3, 2005 02:15 PMYes.
Next question?
Posted by: eebmore at June 3, 2005 02:22 PMhaving never lived in a place that had a good nickname (chocolate city??) or catch phrase, i have to say that i think you baltimore peeps have it pretty damn good! heh. there's worse things than throwing "hon" on the end of everything, right? right???
i'm getting the feeling you're just not into the cute stuff, eh?
Posted by: debbie at June 3, 2005 07:28 PMDebbie-Sweet Parliament reference. Unfortunately, real estate prices in the Chocolate City are turning P.G County into the chocolate suburbs and DC into the vanilla city. Gentrifiers are de-p-funking the p-funk city.
Kitsch in baltimore is like wine. there are many grades of quality, and only the finely tuned palate of a connoisseur can navigate through them effectively. I know this is only one man’s opinion, but I consider use of the term “Hon” to be a grade of baltimore kitsch reserved for bumper stickers and washingtonian tourists. ;)
Posted by: eebmore at June 5, 2005 11:35 AMI can only see the first two .gif buttons, the .bmp buttons don't show up as images, just file names? (I'm using Firefox if that makes a diff)
Posted by: Linda at June 5, 2005 03:41 PMreally? thanks. I'll fix it. sounds like a mac issue.
Posted by: eebmore at June 5, 2005 04:07 PMGood, I thought that problem was just me. :)
Nice buttons.
Posted by: seadragon at June 5, 2005 05:37 PMAnother grammatical correction, sorry, this is such a pet peeve of mine: it is "its butt" not "it's butt." :-)
Yes. You are correct. I always get tripped up on "its" being the exception to the possessive rule for the apostrophe, what with the rule not actually making any sense and all. “it” is a word and the “s” denoting the possession of it. that rule drives me bonkers. I know, I know, “its” follows the same rule as “his” and “her”. It still drives me nuts.
if there was such a thing as a Grammar and Punctuation Court, I would like to argue in favor of "it's" and have the rule changed. Such as it is, there is no such thing as Grammar and Punctuation Court. Chances are, that error will continue to occur on this site.
I’m a very stubborn ignoramus.
Posted by: eebmore at June 5, 2005 07:58 PMMore buttons for the masses! The masses say, More buttons!
Posted by: MB at June 5, 2005 09:47 PMI stole a button. They're nice buttons. Buck the trend, I always say and never do until now.
Posted by: Malnurtured Snay at June 5, 2005 11:32 PMA-lister? wait -- there are A-list baltimore blogs?!?
huh?
also: does anyone know who is behind this blogtimore dealy? i mean for
all we know this is but one of the many faces of The Man.
I asked them who they were and they wouldn't say. That's WEIRD.
Are they even local? Is it related to del.icio.us?
Posted by: Rachel at June 6, 2005 10:54 PMI think the anonymity is intended to protect it from becoming cliquish.
Posted by: eebmore at June 7, 2005 12:16 AMblogtimore is run by an eastern european syndicate loosely affiliated with the russian mafia. they're the same ones who have been scattering mosaic crab statues all over town for the touristas to photograph. it's (its) a conspiracy.
Posted by: Neckbone at June 7, 2005 07:59 AMThe odd thing is that the secrecy is what makes it seem MORE clique-ish and less friendly. If the intentions are good why not say who you are and what exactly you're doing?
Right now, you have a bunch of people signed up in good faith...and all it's doing is creating a central location for everyone's content and we don't even know who's in control.
I'm not saying there's some nefarious scheme unfolding...it's just weird.
