You know, that is pretty good. I chuckled, then I wondered who would remember Nermal the kitten that Garfield kept mailing away.

I had long long ago forgotten about Nermal and him constantly being under threat of being mailed off to Abu Dhabi. Months ago, I had written some angry post about someone where I said I wanted mail him or her off to somewhere. Mooseandsquirrel pointed out that Jim Davis had thought of that first and implied that I was ripping off Garfield. It was obnoxious, amusing and humbling in equal measure. Last night, when I couldn’t sleep and was surfing the news sources, I came across the article about how, prior to the war, The Arab League had been trying to work out a plan to mail Hussein off to Abu Dhabi...

...and I was all like, “Nooooo Way!”

That's awesome! I miss Garfield on Saturday mornings, so you don't even know how happy I am to have the first 3 seasons on DVD now. The best Nermal episode was the cat show where Garfield rigged the cards for Nermal's stunts. "Ok, Nermal, now sit up, roll over, do jumping jacks, make a pizza, surf a wave, move to Florida..." Good stuff :-)

Oh, I also made a mailing to Abu Dhabi reference of my own a few weeks ago. I'm too lazy to find it, though.
My housemates' cat is forever upset that they moved in a smaller, cuter cat, and yells about it a lot. We used to joke that she was threatening to mail him to Abu Ghraib. (She is more ruthless than Garfield himself.)

I remember. And Kim Jong-il is way cuter than Nermal.
