Just in case you were wondering, here are the official statistics for how many police, and amount of equipment that is necessary to arrest one perpetrator trapped on a roof across my alley, two stories below my window at Two O’Clock in the morning.

Police:
Approximately 15.

Police cars:
At least Eight.

Police helicopters (circling over and over and over again):
One.

Fire Engine:
One.

Paddy Wagon:
One.

Number of times police have to yell “Will you just use the fire escape! We’re not going to shoot you!”:
Approx. Thirty.

Number of times the helicopter pilot feels compelled to use audio blare to yell “Will you listen to the officers already and just use the fire escape and come down from there!,” as though him saying anything was of any use to anybody:
Also, approx. Thirty.

Amount of time to apprehend perpetrator:
40 minutes.

I’m not really being critical. For the first twenty minutes it was pretty amusing. Well... I’m being a little critical of the cop in the chopper who just wouldn’t shut up, and the ten or so extra officers who were just standing around with their hands in their pockets, who like me, were enjoying a good spectacle. Only difference being that I was off the clock. I also couldn’t blame the perp on the roof too much. It was the last moment in a while he was going to enjoy a smidgen of freedom. Might as well make the best of it, I guess.

Eh. Whatever. Nothing more for me to say about that other than ‘Screw You’ to Mister Bad Guy for being the cause of me being awake right now. Just thought I’d share.
