My Effed Up Feed
January 03, 2006
My fucked up feed is finally fixed. No longer just an excerpt, no longer just a title (which it has been for a while from trying and failing to fix the feed a couple of weeks ago.) Now my entire worthless entries feed.
Update: Oh good God am I retarded. I should make neckscarfs for a living. All this time I’ve had a fully functional atom feed. Apparently, at some point I deleted the link. Not that anyone who, unlike me, knows what they are doing would of had any problem figuring out what it was.
Since I cannot resit but make mention of this, it is nice to see your use of full-text feeds. I caught onto this, but I think the last time I looked at this your blog had two feeds: index.rdf and atom.xml.
Well, you had atom.xml fixed for the longest time, but it looks like you finally fixed index.rdf.
Thanks from the supernerd.
Posted by: Jason J. Thomas at January 3, 2006 05:06 PMthe atom.xml feed worked?! Fuck. I thought it was all buggered up and eliminated it. Had I known, I wouldn't have bothered fixing the rdf.
Posted by: eebmore at January 3, 2006 05:10 PMhey supernerd! I've got a techie question for you. Are you sure it was an atom.xml file, or was it index.xml file? If it works, I might as well put it back up.
Posted by: eebmore at January 3, 2006 05:16 PMI've been using the atom.xml feed for over a year. Here's the link. http://eebmore.baltiblogs.com/atom.xml
Posted by: bre at January 3, 2006 07:25 PMheh. obviously, I'm an xml genius.
Posted by: eebmore at January 3, 2006 07:30 PMI was wondering what the heck you were talking about. I get all my blog updates via Bloglines, and have never had a problem with your feed. atom.xml, of course. Oh well, welcome back from wherever you thought you weren't.
Posted by: Broadsheet at January 4, 2006 09:08 AMOK, WG (White Gonzo), nice to see you added links for both feeds. You are indeed an XML genius. I do notice some odd formatting issues, but that might be a result of the stylesheet my aggregator uses. I digress.
As for Broadsheet, you merely supply a URL. Bloglines--much like Blogtimore and similar Web/AJAX-y applications--will go and find the feed. It is much along the same lines as what Firefox does when it sees feeds within a page, presenting you with the ubiquitous feed icon.
Posted by: Jason J. Thomas at January 4, 2006 01:05 PMThat might be my style sheet and not my feeds that are causing the formatting issues. Last time I validated my style sheet there was something like 70 errors. Lesson learned, trial and error and cascading style sheets do not mix.
