In the World of the Idiots, It’s the Blind Man Who Can Truly See
April 08, 2006
I’ve recently been reading a lot of articles by and about film critics who are upset about the studios’ new policy of not allowing pre-screenings of really really horrible movies. For me, the policy is win win. When I go to check out Rotten Tomatoes two days before a movie is released to see the reviews, and no articles have been posted, not only do I know that the movie isn’t worth bothering with, I no longer have to listen to some pretentious blowhard rambling on for 500 to a 2000 words to get me there. Granted, there are some critics like Anthony Lane who can make a negative review a true joy to read; but typically, those reviews are by City Paperesque hacks who can’t help themselves from making Igmar Bergman and Satyajit Ray references when writing about the latest Rob Schneider nightmare.
In my world of double-edged irritations, the greater of two evils has been killed. Yay for the studios!
I was impressed by how many hits you get until I realized that they're all referred by folks looking for pictures of "boondocks". I was impressed by how many comments you get until I realized that they're all from the same two people, and your comments on the comments.
Stick to inane posts (BTW, you're "posting" not "publishing") on politics and bum boils. A film critic you're not.
