Mascot charged with fondling fan

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- A man who played the mascot for a minor league baseball team was arrested after a woman said she was fondled at a game in April.

Cecil McLaurin Amick III, 37, of Boiling Springs, portrays Reedy Rip'It, a giant frog for the Greenville Drive of the Class A South Atlantic League. He faces a misdemeanor charge of molesting.

According to an incident report from the Greenville Police Department, the woman said she and a friend were leaving their seats at West End Field when the mascot grabbed her breast in a stairwell...

First off, I’d like to point out that I think unsolicited sexual groping, as well as any other form of harassment is wrong. But I am curious, will Reedy Rip’It now be registered as a sex offender? And if he is, when you type his name into the national sexual offender database, will a picture of a giant frog pop up onto your screen? Will Reedy Rip’It’s photo and profile be added to the national sexual offender registry before or after his trial? What does the Constitution say about giant frog rights in matters like these? Would placing Reedy Rip’It’s photo and profile into the registry prior to a trial be considered regulatory or punitive under the law? Will Miss Piggy now use the registry as an online dating service now that she knows she can use it to find virile, sexualized frogs that have a little fire under their grill?
